What's Happening

*Gus and Lula had their 6 month check-up -- at 10 and 11 months.  They're behind on their well baby visits, but not on growing.  Gus is in the 34th percentile for weight (at almost 21 pounds) and the 48th percentile for height.  Lula -- my little peanut Lula, who was so far below the bottom of the charts when we first met her -- is in the 31st percentile for weight and the 79th percentile for height!  {She's still ever so slightly shorter than her big brother, but due to the different chart for girls and the fact that she's a month younger, she's at a higher percentile.}  I cannot believe that my babies are getting so big!

*Speaking of my babies growing up too fast, I'm beginning to realize that we have just five weeks until Gus' birthday and nine until Lula's.  We're going to keep the celebrations small {just family}, but I'm still planning on decorating.  Not exactly sure what to do yet, but I definitely want to have these:
{Everything in this etsy store is adorable, by the way.  I love the pinwheels and divine twine.}

*I've been hearing so much buzz about The Help lately.  I haven't read the book or seen the movie yet, and was wondering what y'all's take on it is.  Worthwhile?  I'm a little anxious to see if the black characters are portrayed with respect.  Thoughts?

*Keith thinks I've been spending a little too much time on a certain site.  He created his own little art print to let me know how he feels about it:

Engineer by day, artist by night?  I think not.  Though he did do a good job of communicating his point.

*Our newest craigslist find:
It's an antique, it's massive {8' wide x 6' tall}, and I'm thinking we can fit all of Keith's clothes in it and I can have the entire closet to myself!  I haven't decided what I'm going to do with it yet {to paint, or not to paint?}

*Our church has connections to this ministry and I've been reading through Jamie's blog, finding out more about their work in Uganda.  She has such a sweet heart, and she writes beautifully.  I've been missing Ethiopia lately and reading about her experiences in Africa has made me long for the simplicity of life there.

*It's still hot here in Georgia, but we're starting to get some breezes that make me hope for fall.  I'm looking forward to hot cocoa, crunchy leaves, jackets and scarves.
{Doesn't this look make you wish for fall?}

*I'm also looking forward to a very laid-back weekend with not much at all planned.  One of the first free weekends in a long time.  Hope y'all have a great one, too!

I feel so lucky to have come across your blog right when you brought Gus & Lula home & to be able to see them grow up! I love your husband's drawing!! My husband feels the same way, he wants to throw my iPhone away so I won't pin so much! But I tell him I'm doing research for our future house & future DIY to do- he still doesn't buy into it.

The Help is fantastic! Just saw it yesterday and have read the book. I actually had the thought while watching the movie that the maids are portrayed in a much more respectful way than the white people. I was barely alive when these events took place, but it's just amazing to get a glimpse of how poorly people were treated. Go see it!

The babies are adorable. I have so enjoyed following your story of them and as always all of your home updates!

Hey Britt! As far as your new craigslist find....I say to not paint! It looks beautiful and elegant in its natural state. I think its good that Keith has a good sense of humor. I can not imagine having to explain my Pinning habit to anyone! :)

Can't believe they are getting so big! Definitely read "The Help"! I only read about one book per YEAR (terrible I know) but I read that one, and then saw the movie. It's wonderful, and really makes you leave thinking "I want to be a better person".

The Help is wonderful. Even though I was just out of high school when this would have been happening, living in the North I had no idea all of this was going on. I was in total shock. What brave ladies they were. Absolutely loved the book. I have not seen the movie....I'm really not a movie person.
Your children are adorable.

I just found your blog tonight via Jones Design Co. blog. I died laughing at your husband's drawing...I had to show it to MY husband. He said it looks like me on a bad night. Too funny.
