Loving me some chinoiserie

I clearly have a thing for wallpaper.  (Exhibits A & B.)  One of my absolute favorite patterns, but one I haven't experimented with quite yet, is chinoiserie.  It's so pretty and feminine and bold and sweet all at the same time.  I just love it.  I was flipping through my "inspiration" files, trying to find some photos to share, and the sheer number of photos I had saved with chinoiserie paper was.....let's say a little crazy.  Here are a few to brighten your Monday:

I've been wondering if this is something I could pull off on my own.  Has anyone attempted something similar to a chinoiserie design?  Thought about it?
I've thought about free-handing the design, using an overhead, and when I'm feeling kinda chicken (and very spendy!), I've also thought about buying a stencil.  Any other ideas?

Can't wait to see what you come up with- if anyone can stencil or free-hand it, it's you! I love any and all chinoiserie and wanted to do quite a bit of it in my dining room:
We have some great vintage chinoiserie furniture, and I would have loved to also do some chinoiserie wallpaper, but it's crazy expensive and I couldn't sell my hubby on the idea at all, even if it were free! I'm still hoping to add some framed panels of paper on either side of the china cabinet.

Oh- forgot to say I've seen some beautiful chinoiserie screens on CL but they're typically a continuous image across 4 panels, so you have to have the right spot for it. Might look great above a bed or sofa? or above a console table or sideboard?

Caitlin - I love that idea! I'll have to be on the look-out for a floral chinoiserie paper. (Though the one you linked to is gorgeous, too!)

Pam - I stopped by and saw your dining room. It's so pretty and fresh! Just beautiful!
I love the idea of screens, too!
